S130 280ZX (1979-1983)
The Datsun 280ZX was a sports car produced by Nissan Motors from 1978 to 1983. It was the successor to the Datsun 260Z and was part of the second generation of the Z-car lineup.
The 280ZX was initially released as a two-seater coupe, but a 2+2 version with a slightly longer wheelbase was introduced in 1980. It was powered by a 2.8-liter inline six-cylinder engine that produced up to 145 horsepower, depending on the model year and market.
In Australia, the Datsun 280ZX was a popular sports car, and it was sold under the Datsun and Nissan brand names. It was initially released in 1979 as the Datsun 280ZX, and it was available in both coupe and 2+2 versions. It was powered by the same 2.8-liter engine as the US version.
In 1983, the Datsun brand was phased out in Australia, and the car was rebranded as the Nissan 280ZX. The car received a facelift in 1982, which included a new front fascia and updated interior. The Australian market also received a limited edition “Black Pearl” version of the 280ZX in 1981, which featured a black paint job with gold accents and a unique interior.
Overall, the Datsun 280ZX was a popular sports car in Australia, and it was well-regarded for its performance, styling, and reliability. Today, it remains a sought-after collectible among automotive enthusiasts.
