The Z Car Club NSW wishes to invite members to cruise the northern areas of coastal Sydney.
1- Gather at Hassall Park car park on Hassall St in St Ives. Departure at 7.45am heading for St Ives Showground (10mins).
Arrive and gather as a group at Hassall St at 7:30am for 7:45 departure. Head towards St Ives showground via Mona Vale Rd and the Donington Auctions AutoBrunch car display. Entry to the AutoBrunch display arena is $5.00 (cash donation). There are several food / coffee venues available at the showground for breakfast.
2- Depart St Ives Showground at 9.30am for a cruise to Akuna Bay and West Head in the Ku-ring-gai Chase NP (40mins). There is $12 day pass entry fee for those members who donโt have an NP pass, which can be paid at the entry hut or on-line.
There is limited parking at Akuna Bay so the cruise will continue straight through to West Head. The road in/out of Akuna Bay is narrow and twisty, while the West Head section is open bends and 80km/h speed limit, with well maintained bitumen. There are usually some cyclists on these NP roads so be aware. The are multiple road and parking bay areas at West Head. There are many varied scenic viewing points for photos and walking.
3- Depart West Head at 11.00am to drive back to McCarrs General Store at Terry Hills (20mins).
There is on street parking behind and around the general store. The store serves meals and sells general produce. For those Z members who have limited time available then this stop over would be a good time to consider the options for lunch.
4- Depart McCarrs General Store at 11.30am for a cruise to The Newport hotel, at 2 Kalinya Street,
Newport (30mins).
This venue is popular for the varied lunch menu, drinks and scenic outlook over the Bayview and Pittwater area. There is on-site parking, parking bays opposite the hotel and street parking along Kalinya St. However, parking does fill rapidly after 12 noon. The venue has garden and restaurant undercover seating.
5- After lunch, members should take the opportunity to drive to some of the nearby beach areas, such as Mona Vale, Newport, Avalon headland (free parking), and for those adventurous types, Palm Beach (opposite West Head).
In addition, it is suggested that members visit the BahaโI Temple on the way home, at 173 Mona Vale Rd Ingleside.
